Hayden Panettiere has laughed off rumours she is dating star football player Mark Sanchez, insisting she is just a "huge fan" of the sportsman.

The Heroes star recently ended her romance with Russian boxer Wladimir Klitschko and was subsequently linked to the New York Jets quarterback after they were spotted spending time together in California.

But Panettiere is adamant she is just friends with her sporting hero, telling Us Weekly, "I swear I'm not dating him at all. Honestly. I'm a huge Jets fan and became very good friends with him and his buddies. There's genuinely, absolutely nothing going on. I've always been that girl who has a lot of dude friends. I'm into sports so we have a lot in common, but no, definitely 100 per cent not dating."
